Action November 2020
Living Rent Muirhouse branch was founded in March 2018. We established ourselves primarily as council tenants, with some housing association tenants, private tenants and homeowners.
Our main aims are to hold Edinburgh Council accountable in refurbishing our homes as well as reforming the way the council allocates resources, time, and funding to the upkeep and improvement of our area. We are looking at how to ensure that there are more affordable and quality homes locally. We do this by running local campaigns and defending local tenants when they have problems within their homes. We want all the tenants and residents living in Muirhouse to have well-maintained, safe and affordable housing.
Living Rent Muirhouse members also publish regular issues of ‘The 6 Blocks’ - a newsletter update of our ongoing campaigns and local issues. Access the most recent issue here.
Current campaigns include:
- Pushing for Edinburgh Council to improve its home repairs process, communications and service for council residents across the city
- Member defence support for tenants with mould, damp, repairs issues and worse...
- Speaking to local MSP candidates for area improvements prior to the 2021 Holyrood elections
