Last year, after years of work from organised tenants, the government passed the Housing Bill and with it rent controls. Though this was a huge step forward, the landlord lobby undermined key parts of the bill ensuring the rent controls are riddled with loopholes. As a result it will be two years before any tenants feel any benefits of rent controls, leaving two years for landlords to hike up rents. Even when they come in, huge numbers of properties have been made exempt, leaving too many tenants without protections.

It’s clear that our political process is betraying us.

So we’re fighting back. It's clear the landlord lobby is powerful but we have something they don't have - strength in numbers. But we need to come together. Join us to support building a movement of people who are angry about their rent increases, who are angry about their landlords, who are angry about being evicted.
