Aberdeen Living Rent is going from Strength to Strength. This will be the first meeting ran completely by and for members now that we have a superb wee organising team in place!

At the September meeting members elected an Organising Team to steer us through the next few months and also chose to focus on Member Defence in this time. 

As a community-based union run by and for our members, member defence is how we protect ourselves against unaffordable and unfair housing conditions in Dundee and across Scotland. Since Living Rent’s conception, we have successfully organised member defence activities for hundreds of members in private, public and social housing.

In Aberdeen we already have some great Wins to build on. Earlier this year, we successfully resisted the eviction of one of our members who had accrued arrears in their council house during covid lockdown. We've also fought for the rightful return of deposits. So we'll be looking at potential cases to take on now.

We'll also make time in this meeting to talk a bit more about National Campaigns - and looking at the emergency Rent Freeze and Eviction Moratorium that we recently won in more detail. 

So come along!! No experience necessary. Together we support each other in developing our knowledge and skills and use the expertise we have as renters to guide us.
