Dinnae step on Dennistoun!
We, members of in the East End of Glasgow, covering the G31 postcode, founded the Dennistoun branch in November 2020 to defend Dennistoun from sky-rocketing rents, uncleaned streets and closes and dodgy landlords in the social and private rented sector. In December 2020, we campaigned to re-instate close cleaning and won cleaning schedules in Wellpark. In January and February 2021, we campaigned to demand GHA freeze rents.
The branch officially launched in June 2021, and we've fought on issues of disrepair and eviction and won thousands of pounds in compensation in the private rented sector and overturned evictions in the social rented sector. In 2022 we campaigned to reopen Wellpark Community Hall, and through relentless doorknocking and regular community action, we got a commitment to reopen the hall. Since then members have been getting active in the city wide campaigns to fight against mould and damp and against the Mears evictions of refugees.

Our branch meetings are currently held on Thursday on the first full week of the month, 6-8pm at the Everlasting Arms Church, Whitehill Street.
