Edinburgh is in a housing crisis. The unchecked explosion of short term lets and the subsequent lack of permanent homes is having a devastating impact on our city. A lack of homes are forcing rents up and driving residents out the city.

Edinburgh is the city worst affected by the housing crisis in Scotland, yet profits from tourism are still consistently prioritised over the needs of local residents. 

Though the council has introduced a short term let control area, the council has shown a consistent refusal to close loopholes that allow hundreds of properties to operate illegally. 

Right now, short term let operators need to demonstrate they have applied for planning permission in order to get a short term let licence, however many apply and then cancel their application after receiving their licence. 

This is ruining our city.  This council needs to put in money to properly fund enforcement and clamp down on illegal short term lets now.

Together, we need to make the council take action.
