In February 2021, ahead of the elections, the Scottish government hurriedly promised a new Housing Bill to reform the rented sector. Now is the time to hold them accountable.
Join us to build our vision to fight for a better deal for tenants across Scotland.
In this event, we will hear in more detail about some of the demands that Living Rent members have been pushing and analyse the situation in terms of improving the rented sectors' affordability, security and quality as well as tenants' access to justice and independent evaluation. We will hear from history and from our proposals for reform, to build our vision and shape this vague promise of a reform to the rented sector.
On May 29th, join us at 10:30am to:
- Hear about rent controls and a rent affordability index (10:30-11:15am)
- Hear back from our eviction team and their demands around stopping evictions and more broadly examine some of the short-comings of the the private residential tenancy (11:15-12pm)
- Hear from Iain McInness around the history of tenants' management committee (12:15-1pm)
We will record the presentation elements of this event to build resources for tenants across Scotland.
