Fighting for the future of Scottish housing: building our strategy

After almost a year of campaigning for our tenants' manifesto, let's take the time to reflect, analyse our campaign and brainstorm next steps.

During this session, we will:

  • analyse the result of the election: who were the MSPs elected? What do we know about them and what were their promises before the election?
  • evaluate our national campaign's strategy and results regarding our demands rent consultations and bringer greater accountability in social housing, our fight against evictions and for rent controls, and our demands to improve housing quality.

This session is open to all members of Living Rent.
Given Living Rent's structure, the next steps suggested during these discussions will be approved by delegates of each branch, during the national forum.

The event will start at 10:30am and last until 12:30pm.

There will be welcome and introductions and break-out rooms looking at: the demand for rent consultation to be made statutory and how to increase affordability in social housing, how to tie up housing and the environment ahead of COP26 and improving the private rented sector (rent controls, the private residential tenancy, short-term lets). Break out rooms will assess what the campaign has achieved, how to frame demands, and brainstorm next strategic steps.
