Petition: Clean up flytipping in Cessnock!

Fly tipping is rife in our neighbourhood. We demand that housing associations act to clean up the land they are responsible for in the G51 area, starting with Brand Street, Midlock Street & Cessnock Street.

Cleansing and uplift teams are facing tougher working conditions as council workers across various sectors struggle due to cuts from Glasgow City Council. Housing Associations have responsibility for uplifts and cleansing on Housing Association land, yet they refuse to meet the standards that our community demands.

Housing association tenants have faced unfair rent increases year on year, while our streets become hazardous and unsightly and landlords continue to ignore the problem.

Sign this petition to support Living Rent’s demands on Housing Associations to provide:

  1. A full cleanse and uplift on Housing Association property on Brand Street, Middleton Street, Harley Street and Cessnock Street
  2. Better communication with tenants by:
    • Providing a clear timeline for when flytipping is to be cleared
    • Housing Associations to respond to reports made about flytipping
    • Housing Associations to communicate clearly about uplift areas
  3. Wheatley Homes to commit more funding to support Neighborhood and Environmental Teams (NETs), ensuring our community is properly served and staff are properly supported
