Are you a resident in Govanhill? Do you want to build neighbourhood power from the ground up? Join your local union and be part of the fight for better conditions in our community.
Living Rent’s Govanhill branch was established in June 2020 - in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic - to organise to improve the rights of tenants in both the private and social sector.
Since then, members have mobilised around our cleansing campaign to demand greater investment in services from Glasgow Council, fought and supported members and tenants to get repairs and stop evictions and stood with other local branches to fight cuts to council services across the city. Our membership is steadily growing as we agitate for the changes our community needs, together.
More recently members worked to pressure the council fix the street lights in Govanhill as well as getting active in the city wide campaigns to fight against mould and damp and against the Mears evictions of refugees.
Our branch meetings are currently held on Thursdays on a monthly basis at 6.30-8.00pm at the Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church (170 Queen's Drive, Glasgow G42 8QZ)
