On March 1st 2021 GHA announced that they would impose a 1.7% rent increase on all of their tenants from the beginning of April after just 2% of 40,000 households across the city agreeing with this rent hike.
This comes after a year of across-the-board service cuts and ignored repairs, throughout which GHA have received huge amounts of state support through the furlough scheme, whilst their CEO (Martin Armstrong of the Wheatley Group) has continued to take a whopping £280,000 salary. This is not acceptable.
Living Rent aims to beat greedy GHA and we need just 500 GHA tenants more to fill out our tenant led consultation asking for a rent freeze. https://www.livingrent.org/freeze_rents
Pollokshaws tenants are getting organised, planning for a day of action (25/03/21) and we intend to publicly hold GHA to full account.
If you are a GHA tenant living in Pollokshaws, come along to this public meeting (held online via zoom) on Thursday 18/03/21 at 7pm to finalise the plan for the day of action.
Please RSVP via the link and you'll be sent a zoom link (check your spam). In the meantime if you have any questions you can call or email our local organiser Sonja via the details in the link.
