As Halloween approaches, Living Rent members in Pollokshields have been busy blowing away the cobwebs!

Our local branch is growing every week, with Shielders new and old getting together to discuss issues and plan actions. After an initial meeting online, we have begun to map the area: from local councillors and MSPs to building conditions, community facilities, bogging backcourts and dodgy landlords, we’re getting a grip on what we want to change, and how we can do it. We’ve made dozens of new contacts in stalls by Maxwell Park, and supported the regular ‘read-ins’ at the Library. People are ready to build power in Pollokshields!

To get involved, come along to our next Pollokshields branch gathering! This is a great chance to meet fellow Shielders, get an update on what we’ve been up to on the ground, and, most important, decide on what local issue we want to campaign on in the neighbourhood. We’ll also be taking a look at Living Rent’s recently launched Tenants’ Manifesto, and other exciting things taking place across the union. Not to be missed!
