Rally against Rent Increases: Water Row

Tenants in Water Row, the Mid-Market housing development in Govan, have been served massive rent increases and feel a lack of transparency from the Water Row Company (a subsidiary company of Govan Housing Association). That's why they joined Living Rent, and together we are fighting.

Rents for most residents were increased up to 49.07% between March 2024 and May 2025, having been served one increase less than a month before moving in, and another in January 2025.

This means that many tenants can no longer afford to stay in their homes, and have been looking to move or take on extra work - this is not what Mid Market Housing is supposed to be. Water Row is now the most expensive MMR development in Glasgow.

Because of this, members are taking action, to demand that the Water Row Company:

  • Stops the rent increase, and puts rent back to Local Housing Allowance rates (£195.62 per week)
  • Implements a solid consultation process for future rent increases
  • Provides a breakdown of costs, laying out where tenants’ rent money is spent

The more neighbours out in support, the more impactful the action will be!

Come down, make some noise, and make sure that Govan Housing commits to its claim of ‘building the future, preserving the past'.

Open to all, bring your friends and neighbours!
