The Fire Service wants to permanently shut down the fire station at Marionville Road.
We will not stand by and watch this happen.
This will mean job losses and a devastating impact on our community.
2.5 minutes is the difference between life and death when a fire happens.
Our local fire fighters as part of the Fire Brigades Union are fighting to keep the station open.
We demand that our fire station is saved.
By signing this you agree for Living Rent Scotland's Tenant and Community Union to fill in a response in your name and collect your information. Our response will cover the following;
- The closure of Marionville presents an unacceptable increase in response times to tens of thousands of people in East Edinburgh and beyond, therefore a dangerous increase in risk to public and firefighter safety.
- The associated documents state that SFRS's own data has identified that the area currently covered by Marionville requires a fire station and Duddingston is the optimal location.
- The only reason Marionville is not being rebuilt is due to funding issues, the SFRS answer to addressing RAAC issues is simply to close the fire station rather than invest in replacing it.
- The only acceptable solution is to rebuild the fire station fit for the 21st Century, to continue to ensure the safety of our communities.
