Short Term Lets - Nairn Public Meeting

Come along to our public meeting with Highland Council to call upon them to clamp down on short term lets across Nairnshire.

The housing crisis across the Highlands is dire, and we need Councillors to take real action to clamp down on the short term lets that are taking over our streets.

We know that the short term rent controls work. Badenoch & Strathspey have seen a reduction in the number of applications since introducing controls in 2024 but Nairnshire, which borders the controlled area, has seen an increase in holiday lets.

This has impacted the availability and cost of affordable housing for let or to buy in the town over the last two years especially in popular areas like the Fishertown and residential streets around the High Street. Despite this, local councillors on the Nairnshire Area Committee decided in December 2025 not to begin the process of introducing similar short term let controls here too.

This family friendly event is an opportunity for Nairnshire locals to come together and have their voices heard. We need to come together to push back against the tourism lobby and make sure our council prioritises safe, secure, affordable housing over profit-driven property moguls.

Hot drinks and refreshments will be provided.
