MUSICIANS ARE PLAYING ´TUNES FOR TENANTS´ IN JUNE
Members of Edinburgh branch have come together to organise online gigs with musicians from across Scotland.Audience are invited to either join the event on zoom (the password will be circulated internally) or to watch the live music performance on the Living Rent Facebook pages as a live stream. We can look forward to hearing from some of the best young trad musicians known to the Edinburgh folk scene, a badass Bluegrass band from Leith, the highly original indie song-writing of an adopted Irish Edinburgher, and the beautiful harmonies of an English protest folk band who call the city their home-from-home. If you are a musician or promoter in Scotland and you are a member of LR, please contact us for a chat about how to set up future gigs.

Danny Emerson
Heart breaking, heart healing acoustic magic! Finely crafted, intimate, and poetic songwriting, with a naughty twist of bluesy rhythm driven numbers. Danny weaves an emotionally rich tapestry of silver lined songs with naked honesty, trancy melodies, and an enchanting voice. A folk and story infused journey deep into the open heart of matters. A sound hug for the soul.
In the beginning there was the word. Flitting about festival fires and community events saw Danny make a little name for himself. He saw it was good, and soon word of mouth was mouthing off about living your purpose and other inconvenient truths. Then there was light. Stages, studios, the sound grew, and the man knew - twas time. Hearing the call of service in the troubadour way, he looked fear right in the eye, and leapt forward in faith! Blind faith as it turns out, and after dusting himself off a rather ill-fated bardic adventure, tip toed cautiously into the online world where everyone is at these days.Danny's music comes from a deep personal place, and has the power to transport you in and out of the same, lifting free the things that would bind you.
The Sandpipers
The Sandpiper sand their lockdown friends will delight you with beautiful folk songs old and new, featuring delicious harmonies and an instrument or two. Feminist folk anthems meet angry politics and general silliness (bordering on the absolutely ridiculous!) from this lovely lineup.
Sociograss
After almost two years of playing together in various pub sessions in Edinburgh and around Scotland, it became evident that a collective name was needed and a new band being formed. Coming together through a shared love of American and Irish folk music and good times, SocioGrass is the rowdy folk music collective sourced from the likes of Wire and Wool and the Auld Reekie String band.
