Repairs up, energy bills down: demand repairs for Westfield Court!

Residents in Westfield Court in Gorgie have been facing huge increases in their energy bills, alongside a block that has been neglected by the council.

Some residents are paying £3,500 a year to heat just three radiators in their home because the boiler is so inefficient.

Alongside this, the block is in a state of disrepair and neglect with rubbish strewn around, bin collections are not timely or consistent and many residents have faced leaks because the pipes are so old.

Five years ago, a survey was completed to assess the state of disrepair and Westfield Court was deemed a priority.

However, Head of High-rise Management admitted that no action had been taken to address the urgent repairs issues in the last 2 years.

Now, the council refuse to release the contents of the survey even going so far as to restrict access to councillors themselves!

Living Rent members are organising in the block and residents are taking action to demand repairs, an end to soaring bills and an end to the council’s neglect.

Sign our petition to demand City of Edinburgh Council:

  • Release details of previous building surveys that detail the scale of disrepair.
  • Release payment back in full from over paid bills.
