Lochend's Zebra Crossing - Community Action for Road Safety

Lochend Needs Safe Roads - Zebra Crossing Community Action

Everyone who wants safer roads is invited to join us on Friday 6th March between 11am - 1pm join us for a community action to raise awareness of the issue. Our very own Giuseppe will be dressed as life size zebra and will be crossing the road and we would like to speak to you about the improvements you need.

What can you do?

  • Bring yourselves and if you woud like, a sign that says 'Lochend Needs Safe Roads'
  • At our stall you can Email your councillors using our easy app to share your story - share with your neighbours!
  • Be part of our pictures so we can show the council there is wide spread support!

We will also have chalk to colour the street and temporary animal tatoos for all ages!

What we have done so far.

Residents in Lochend have been running a campaign to get safe crossings across Lochends, improve road conditions and markings in order to make our streets safer for everyone.Lots of people have said that it feels risky to cross the road and cars speed too fast. Leading to near misses for many and sadly fatal and serious incidents for others.

So far we have held a community day and met with the convenor of the Transport Committee and and senior officers, who have said that they will note areas for concern and look into it. This isnt good enough, people have been raising these issues for years. We know the council has millions to spend on road safety, its time out homes had it too.
