Knightswood Against The GHA Rent Hike

On March 1st 2021 GHA announced that they would impose a 1.7% rent increase on all of their tenants from the beginning of April.

This comes after a year of across-the-board service cuts and ignored repairs, throughout which GHA have received huge amounts state support through the furlough scheme, whilst their CEO (Martin Armstrong of the Wheatley Group) has continued to take a whopping £280,000 salary. This is not acceptable. GHA tenants across Knightswood and the surrounding areas are suffering as a direct result of GHA service cuts and ignored repairs. Putting up the rent at this moment is to rub salt in an open wound.

Knightswood Living Rent refuses to despair in the face of this appalling treatment. We are getting organised, planning direct action, and we intend to publicly hold our landlord to full account.

We would like to invite all GHA tenants in the area to a public meeting (held online via zoom) on Thursday 11/03/21. This will be a forum for tenants to share their thoughts on the rent hike, and join us in both planning direct action and deciding how we will seek to hold GHA accountable.

Please RSVP via the link and you'll be sent a zoom link shortly before the meeting. In the meantime if you have any questions you can call or email our local organiser James via the details in the link.
