On March 28th, 2020, tenants across Scotland came together, showing the government and landlords that during a global pandemic, they won't be silenced.
Because we couldn't meet in person and to respect social distancing, we made our action virtual! We asked our members across Scotland to create signs with a housing-related slogan with the hashtags #livingrent and #housingactionday and post them on our facebook event page.
The sheer outpouring of creativity from our members was incredible and is testament to our ability to never stop fighting for a housing system that prioritises people over profit, even in the midst of a global pandemic.
This action was in lieu of a coordinated day of action with the European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and to the City. All over Europe, tenants and residents are fighting the commodification of their homes and its important to remember that even when our fight is local, the housing struggle is global.
