Political education: Housing and the environment

Heating our homes represents 16% of Scotland’s carbon emissions. Across, Scotland many tenants have to choose between food or fuel in the winter. In social and public housing, tenants experience ongoing issues with repairs, leading to persistent mould and damp. These are jut some of the practical ways in which housing quality and climate change intersect.

Ahead of one of the largest international gatherings to tackle climate change in Glasgow in November, come to this session to learn more about the energy politics of Scottish housing and the opportunities to ask for a transformation of our homes' quality.

In this session, you'll hear from a representative from Friends of the Earth and from the Existing Homes Alliance to understand how to link up the issues that tenants with fighting climate change and build the visions we need to address the scale of the climate crisis.
